Knitting hasn’t really anything to do with cooking. But it IS starch-free.
Winter has finally come to Sweden (as of November it is still more rain than snow; but I won’t complain) and I started a new knitting project.
The scarf for my sister (more like a blanket according to her) is coming along nicely, but it takes so long! Linen stitch for the knitters amongst you. It looks nice and all, but … I am going cause havoc in a retirement home before it is going to be finished. At least that is my own time assessment. Others are more optimistic.
And as I have been struggling with the pain in my back (more than usual), yoga is still more of a chore than an enjoyment. Baby Cobra is still non-existent.
Anyways. Now knitting project. As you can seen above, they look nice too. And – on the plus side – they are finished and usable. I am rather pleased with them.
For all of you that want to have a go. ( a set of double-pointed knitting needles; for me European size 2)
- cast on between 60 and 80 stitches
- 8 rows: 2k 2p
- start knit rounds by decreasing 8 stitches all together (two for each needle
- 36 rows: knit (2 rows grey / 2 rows green)
- start with hole for thumb
- knit one row; purl one row back to beginning for each colour; 18 rows in total for me
- go back to knitting in the rounds and continue as before for 16 more rows
- start the 2k/ 2p and decrease 8 more stitches in the first row
- continue for 7 more rounds
- bind off.
- e voilà.
