Paris in mid-August

Paris agrees with me too well. Although I have to admit that eating starch free for the span of a long weekend is impossible here. All the food and all the ice cream. I guess you get the picture.

Now, I am not much of a planer myself. “Jaha, we’re going to Paris? Cool! I book a flight.” So having a friend – who is happy to ‘abandon’ her children and husband for a long weekend – that likes to plan such trips in minute detail is not such a bad idea.

IMG_3064Thanks to the Hôtel De l’Arcade and their very friendly staff, we had a proper place to stay. I also have an aversion to underground public transport. You don’t see anything, right? Proper shoes, perfect weather (light breeze, fluffy clouds and 31°C) make for fantastic days. As you can see above and below.

If you then – more on purpose than by chance – find a Häagen-Dazs ice cream shop, the world tends to look pretty sunny. Between Thursday 11am and Saturday 23pm we collected 91’344 steps.

So; what did we do?

  • Champs-Élysées (and all the stops)
  • Louvre
  • Musée Rodin
  • Jardin de Luxembourg
  • Tour Eiffel
  • Seine (no not swimming, just leisurely walking on the left bank)
  • Sacre Coeur
  • Montmartre
  • Arc de Triomphe
  • Les Invalides

And loads of good food. I’ll try and add a map later on (if I don’t forget.)
